As we age, the substances in our skin that provide elasticity and structure begin to decline, causing dryness, sagging, and wrinkles. This unfortunate flaw in nature’s design has been a source of angst for centuries in both women and men alike. Many people deal with this problem by proudly declaring that they are “aging gracefully,” acting like an ostrich with its head in the sand trying to escape the frightening truth: there is nothing graceful about a face that looks like a raisin.
Matrix IR is a revolutionary wrinkle reduction treatment that utilizes elos technology to eliminate mild to moderate wrinkles in both women and men, while simultaneously making the skin’s texture smoother and more elastic. Unlike laser procedures of the past, which had horrible side effects and long recovery periods, Matrix IR is a safe and effective non-invasive procedure with a very low risk of side effects and no down-time. Matrix IR combines laser energy with radio frequencies to effectively treat wrinkles on the following areas of the face:
- Worry lines on the forehead.
- Laugh lines and crow’s feet around the eyes.
- The nasolabial folds between the nose and mouth.
Though wrinkles are the most common sign of aging, they are no longer a necessary evil in today’s world. Now is the time to get your head out of the sand – and hold it up high! Contact us at the White Tea Med Spa to find out how we can help you to truly “age gracefully” with Matrix IR treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main causes of facial wrinkles?
Aside from aging, wrinkles can be caused by a variety of factors including (but not limited to) smoking, exposure to pollution, exposure to ultraviolet light, genetic factors (like skin and hair color), and facial expressions. All of these factors are in play every second of the day, which means that your lifestyle choices – clothing choices, geographic location, hobbies, etc – can contribute to wrinkle formation, as well. Your job can even cause wrinkles! The more you are exposed to these factors, the more potential you have for wrinkle formation. For example, if you’re always squinting to look at small type, you’ll form crow’s feet earlier than someone who doesn’t; if you’re out in the sun while at work, you’ll probably see far more wrinkles on your face than someone who is inside all day.
How does the Matrix IR wrinkle treatment work?
Matrix IR utilizes elōs technology to remodel the dermal layer of the skin by stimulating collagen production to creating a smoother, softer appearance. To find out about elōs technology, and how it differs from laser treatments of the past, please click here.
How is Matrix IR different from other wrinkle treatments?
There are many options for treating wrinkles these days. Unfortunately, this “option overload” makes it incredibly confusing when trying to decide which treatment (or treatments) to choose. Let’s take them one-by-one:
- Over-The-Counter (OTC) Creams
These treatments are quite popular among wrinkle sufferers, and their effectiveness varies greatly depending on the active ingredients present in each specific formula. These treatments require daily applications (often multiple times a day), and the results (if any) usually do not last very long. In fact, Matrix IR gives better results after just a few sessions than any of these creams would with years of continued use.
- Topical Retinoids
Though more effective than OTC creams, topical retinoids require a prescription from a doctor and have a large number of drawbacks. They make the skin incredibly susceptible to sun damage and sunburn, require a special skin care regimen to protect the skin, and can cause a wide array of side effects including dryness, itching, burning sensations, tingling sensations, and redness.
- Other Laser Treatments
Other laser treatments use only light energy, preventing effective targeting of the treatment area. This causes collateral damage to the surrounding tissues and a wide array of unpleasant side effects. These other treatments are known as ablative (or wounding) treatments. They destroy the epidermis by blasting it with a laser beam, while simultaneously heating up the dermis to stimulate new collagen production. New, firmer skin is formed when the wounds finally heal. Unfortunately, the healing process can take several months, and forces the patient to endure a lot of pain and down-time away from their lives and loved ones.
Matrix IR is a non-ablative treatment, meaning that it heats the dermis to effectively trigger collagen production, while leaving the epidermis virtually untouched. This results in dramatically faster healing times and less pain for clients.
- Other Radiofrequency Treatments
Other radiofrequency treatments, like Titan, use only radiofrequencies and no light energies. This creates a monowave, which is hard to control and very risky. By combining radiofrequency with light energy, elōs achieves a bipolar wave, which is more effective and easier to control, with less risks than treatments that use only radio waves.
Botox injections blocks the chemical signals that cause muscles to contract. By injecting it into targeted muscles, it prevents these muscles from contracting and thus presents a smoother, less-wrinkled appearance. Unfortunately, it has a number of drawbacks. Aside from being extremely painful, it can also give a somewhat alien appearance to the face as certain parts stop moving and emotions cannot be expressed normally.
Other injectibles, like fat and Restylane, are injected into the skin to fill up the empty space beneath the surface, giving the face a smoother appearance. These fillers have a number of drawbacks, however. Side effects include redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness, and moderate pain. Additionally, some patients are allergic to the ingredients and can experience bad allergic reactions. Finally, the results can look very artificial if not done properly.
What results can I expect from the Matrix IR wrinkle treatment?
In addition to a reduction in the appearance of facial wrinkles, Matrix IR can also help to impove enlarged pores, rough skin texture, and some forms of acne scarring.
Are there any side effects?
Some clients report a slight pinkness in their skin immediately following the treatment. Most patients, however, do not experience any side effects from the treatment. All clients can return to work and/or their daily lives immediately after the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients will need at least three to six treatments to see dramatic results. Your therapist will determine the proper number of treatments for your needs during your free consultation.
How frequently do I need treatments?
Treatment sessions are typically three to four weeks apart.
How long does the Matrix IR wrinkle treatment last?
The duration of the results is different for every individual, as they depend on skin type, body chemistry, and other factors.
What does the treatment feel like? Does it hurt?
The sensation is often described as a “hot pinch” – like someone snapping an elastic band on your skin. This is alleviated by cooling the skin during the treatments.
Is the Matrix IR wrinkle treatment safe?
Side effects are very rare, but do occur in an extremely small percentage of clients. Superficial blistering, crusting, and pigmentary changes in the skin are rare and usually quickly resolved. These are normal risks for any medical laser procedure, but only elōs incorporates several technological advances that focus on patient safety to minimize these risks and provide greater satisfaction.
Am I a candidate for the Matrix IR wrinkle treatment?
Anyone with moderate wrinkles, superficial acne scarring, enlarged pores, or rough skin texture from chronic sun-damage is a candidate for the Matrix IR wrinkle treatment. Pigmentation from chronic sun-damage may also improve through the course of the treatment series. Exceedingly deep facial wrinkles will improve, but will not disappear.
