Pantone, the global color authority and provider of professional color standards, has declared 2014 the year of Radiant Orchid. I am gushing over this year’s winner not only because I adore all shades of purple, but also because it looks good on everyone! Combining both warm and cool tones, Radiant Orchid is extremely complimentary to most skin, hair, and eye colors.
Check out these five easy ways to incorporate the color of the year into your wardrobe!
From sweaters to dresses, denim to satin, a purple belt is the perfect pop for an otherwise monochromatic outfit. Place at the smallest part of the waist to dramatize an hour glass figure; or fake one if it’s not in the genes!
ACCENTUATE YOUR “ASSETS”
It is common for us as women to shy away from wearing bold colored pants, skirts, or tights in fear of drawing attention to imperfections whether legitimate or exaggerated in our head. With the right material (stretch is always a plus,) an orchid bottom is an ideal foundation for a killer outfit. Work with what your momma gave ya!
In the famous words of Bonnie Raitt, “Let’s give them something to talk about.” A woman’s shoes is often the topic of conversation, so why not use your kicks to stand out! When paired with dark denim and a white tee, a sleek black dress, or a high- waisted patterned pant with a basic tank, purple shoes are a definite “Do!”
When all else fails, you reach for that Little Black Dress, right? Well that’s not a wrong habit, but why not be daring and choose that figure flattering dress in a striking plum instead of black? It will look just as good on you, and may even turn more heads because of the unexpected color. Carry around a bat when you wear this little number because you will have to beat ’em away with a stick!
There is something about an amethyst stone that can make anyone look and feel like royalty. Use a large statement necklace, cuff, or earrings to amp up the elegance; and remember: you deserve to be treated like the queen that you are!
