How to Avoid Cellulite

What exactly is cellulite? Cellulite is a condition in which the human skin has the presence of underlying fat deposits, causing it to appear dimpled and lumpy. Most people show cellulite on their buttocks and thighs, and it’s most commonly noticeable in people who have already transitioned through puberty.

Cellulite can be caused by a multitude of things. One known factor is hormones. Many people believe that estrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and prolactin can be the cause of cellulite. Genetics such as gender, race, and slow metabolism can also play a part in the production of cellulite. Of course, lifestyle factors such as poor diet and exercise are also culprits of unwanted cellulite. People who consume a lot of fatty foods, lots of carbohydrates, or too much salt and too little fiber are likely to experience the appearance of cellulite. Also, smokers are at a higher risk of cellulite as well. Another factor of cellulite production is when clothing is too tight. It’s important to wear well fit clothing without tight elastic that can limit blood flow.

Now that you know what cellulite is, it is important that you learn how to avoid it. Of course, some things cannot be avoided such as genetics and gender, but avoiding other cellulite causing factors can really keep your cellulite at a minimum.

So, how can you avoid cellulite? Well, as you read above, try to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen. Be mindful of what you are putting into your body and try to stay away from toxic habits such as smoking and overloading on carbohydrates and salts. Dietary salt can cause fluid to be retained in the body and may actually even worsen the visible signs of cellulite.  Again, wear clothes that fit you and make sure that your skin is not being restricted by any tight elastic bands that could decrease blood flow.

Very importantly, you want to make sure that you are taking in enough fiber in your diet. When it comes to what foods cause cellulite, it is smart to avoid sugary foods. Pastries, cookies, candies, and cakes (lots of sweets in general) should be avoided as much as possible to maintain healthy skin and avoid the problem of cellulite.

Remember to drink enough water to help clean system of toxins while also keeping you hydrated. Keeping a well-balanced diet with healthy foods and an appropriate H2O intake is likely to help you avoid the appearance of cellulite.

Speaking with a doctor, healthcare professional, or nutritionist can also be helpful as there are some supplements and natural herbs that can be taken to help improve circulation and be beneficial in reducing or avoiding cellulite. Remember, this is what medical professionals are for. It is never wrong to ask a question when it comes to your own body.

Hi I have a lot of stretch marks and loose skin from pregnancy. I would like to know if Velashape can help with this problem? If not, can you recommend any other treatments for me?

      Hello Leslie,

VelaShape is a great treatment for after pregnancy because it helps with skin tightening, body contouring, and cellulite; all which are very common to get after pregnancy. As far as stretch marks go, they won’t completely disappear but with the skin tightening effect, they should be able to diminish a little bit.
