Once it turns October, it seems that everything quickly changes to be about pumpkin. Everything from our coffee to our body wash is now pumpkin flavored or themed. Although we are bombarded with an overload of pumpkin everywhere we turn, there is actually a lot of beauty and health benefits to be taken advantage of this time of year. Pumpkin is good for all skin types. The lactic acid will hydrate as well as exfoliate the skin which is useful especially in the winter. It contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) that helps to clear and brighten skin. It also contains antioxidants (Vitamins A & C) that soften skin and boost collagen. Here at the Spa, we personally use a pumpkin facial cleanser from Rhonda Allison. We incorporate the cleanser in many of our facials. I also recommend a pumpkin facial, which you can actually easily do at home. Try this DIY pumpkin mask at home with the help from our friends at PrimallyInspired.com Click the link and follow the directions and enjoy!! Pumpkin also has benefits when incorporated in your diet. Pumpkin seeds is considered a super food as it is rich in proteins, dietary fibers, vitamins, minerals and the good fats. So besides your Starbucks pumpkin spiced lattes this season, try to incorporate pumpkin into your diet and skin care!! Happy Thanksgiving 🙂
